Day 23: Language barriers and large tumours

28/04/2023 05:18

A cartoon style image set in a medical office. A female patient and female doctor are talking but there is a slight language barrier.

Yesterday was not good. I had to do accounts in the morning and then a 2 hour appointment with the consultant and the plastic surgeon.

Have decided NOT to have a partial reconstruction. Risk of infection, foreign object, appearance of prosthesis, drain etc all putting me off.

Plastic surgeon was Spanish and I struggled to understand her. She also wore a mask …..I couldn’t lip read.

They keep saying I have a very large tumour. I think probably have to have chemo.

Went on lobular breast cancer site. They don’t usually respond to chemo?!

Also they are frequently missed on a mammogram.

Wondering if this was not picked up last year and also wondering about those blood tests last year. (Very low iron)

Thinking of doing a podcast with Vicky and maybe streaming straight to YouTube about breast cancer?

Holiday changeover today and total tone. Bye x
